Product Description
The flocking fibers are made by combining fibers of different colors and lengths, then bonding them to the surface. This creates a unique chambray-like effect, with subtle changes in color depending on the viewing angle. The result is a distinctive, dimensional expression that can only be achieved through this traditional flocking technique.
A slightly hand-drawn college-style logo is finished with electrostatic flocking, then individually colored by hand using an airbrush.
The design is inspired by vintage sweatshirts from the 1950s, faithfully recreating characteristic details from the era, including the double-V gusset—the V-shaped sweat guards beneath the neckline—and Freedom Sleeves, a construction in which the underarm seam extends from the body into the sleeve. Each detail has its own historical background and has been carefully reproduced.
The inside of the fabric is not brushed, making it comfortable to wear across a long season. Garment-dyed for a full, soft texture and a naturally worn-in appearance, the sweatshirt develops an authentic vintage character.
Electrostatic Flock Printing
This piece features electrostatic flock printing by Teppei Yamada, the third-generation craftsman of a flock-printing workshop founded in Kyoto approximately 100 years ago.
His highly skilled craftsmanship, which carefully controls the thickness and texture of the flocking, is a rare technique that can now be performed by only a handful of workshops in Japan.
Care Instructions
Flocked prints are a special finish. They are not permanent and may come off when subjected to friction or rubbing. The print may also gradually fade with repeated washing.
- Avoid excessive friction from bags or other items while wearing.
- Turn the garment inside out and use a laundry net when washing.
- Due to the delicate nature of the flocked print, wash separately.
